What is Capsule Endoscopy?

Capsule Endoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure used to examine the small intestine using a miniature wireless camera enclosed within a swallowable capsule. It allows detailed visualization of areas of the gastrointestinal tract that are difficult to reach with conventional endoscopy or colonoscopy.

After swallowing the capsule, it travels naturally through the digestive system while capturing thousands of high-resolution images. These images are transmitted to a recording device worn by the patient and later analyzed by a gastroenterologist.

Capsule endoscopy is particularly useful for detecting obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, small bowel tumors, Crohn’s disease, ulcers, and unexplained anemia. It provides a safe and comfortable alternative to more invasive diagnostic procedures.
